Spot colours information. Printing with spot colours involves the application of solid colour inks to printable surfaces. These spot colours are mixed prior to the actual printing process so they are standardised and can be applied as a solid sheet of colour.

Why would I want Spot Colour Printing?

Spot colours are solid, as opposed to the dots of ink droplets produced by offset-litho and screen-printing, which means that the colours are much bolder and stand out more.

Spot colours are also premixed according to standardised systems, such as the Pantone system that our printing uses. A limitation of process printing is that the end result can vary dramatically depending on the printers used and the type of surface being printed on. Spot colours allow standardised printing, which can be important for items like company logos.

Spot colours are less useful for photographic or other detailed imagery because these would require a large number of differing colours.
